The Clam Diggers Association of Oregon tested 10 small razor clams measuring 3 1/2 inches in length for Inorganic Arsenic. See the results of .012 ppm posted below. The results are good news for razor clam diggers. However the razor clams we Submitted were young. We expect to see the level of contamination to rise when older clams are tested. Because of limited funding we only tested the razor clams for inorganic Arsenic. We need an invertebrates testing program to assure the clam digging public that the razor clam taken from Clatsop Spit beaches are safe for consumption free from mercury, PCBs and other deadly contaminates.
