Bill's response to Kevin Masterson of the DEQ.
Kevin, the only solution shellfish harvester will accept is when the State implements a comprehensive invertebrate testing program to monitor the health of Oregon's Aquatic Environment.
I posted the following from my blog, "Has the level of fire retardants reached the level to kill Crash Test Dummies and turn our babies into Zombies? From what I have the level of contamination is at critical levels in some bays and not in others, but without testing commonly eaten shellfish species we do not know. I do know that I can no longer endorse consumption of shellfish taken from Oregon's Bays when the State of Oregon refuses to the shellfish, crabs and Nearshore rockfish for levels of life threatening contaminates and toxins.
I do not believe that Kevin and his fellow workers at the DEQ have any idea what the loss of a way of life means to Oregonians."
Thank You, Bill Lackner
Question: if the State has a handle on Fire Retardants, then which come first the chicken or the egg? Next question, How do we rid our bays of this poison and all the other poisons and who pays for cleaning up our environment? How about an excise tax on big farming and big timber and other responsible entities.
