Are the shellfish Harvested along the Oregon Coast safe to eat? The Oregon Department of Agriculture would have you following their guidelines, but does their guidelines do the Job? I don't know... All we have to do is look north to Washington State for guidance and in our opinion the answer is NO!
We recommend waiting until the heat wave is over and the nearshore water temperatures of the ocean have cooled before resuming the consumption of shellfish. Bill Lackner

ODFW could care less if people are getting sick. Has anyone seen the signs warning people not to harvest shellfish from the tidal flats associated industrial marinas common to Coos Bay, Yaquina Bay and Tillamook Bay? Why doesn't odfw identify the tidal flats where consumption of the shellfish harvested there pose a risk to the health to those who consume them... Class B sewer plant mixing zones are not being marked....
