The riprap rocky shore behind and west of the Gas Plant in going under the blade of construction equipment soon. It is sad to see the shoreline vacant without a fisherman in site. There is nothing evident except the sound of the wind and that of the waves hitting the riprap. Where are the voices of opposition for those complaining about the loss of fishing opportunity!!!

There are regulations that mandate the loss of recreational opportunity but federal, State and local officials will promise anything to get their projects approved and then fail to keep their collective Word. They lie and then swear to it
The restricted access of the locked gate reverses a fishing tradition that began with the construction by filling one of the most clam rich tidal flats found in any of Oregon's bays. However, we cannot depend on traditions to ensure the continued availability of our recreational opportunity. If there is fault to be found it rest with the appropriate State, federal and Local officials to set goals to manage the natural resources of Oregon's bays. Their failure to mitigate the loss of recreational opportunity in connection with the construction of the NOAA facility at Yaquina Bay is unacceptable because they failed to honor the commitments they made. They are Liars!!! .
