Recreational Halibut Seasons beginning to open on May 1.
Columbia River Subarea • All-Depth season: Open Thurs, May 2 and Sun, May 5; Thurs, May 9 and Sun, May 12; Fri (not a typo), May 24 and Sun, May 26. If quota remains after those dates will be open every Thurs and Sun through earlier of the quota (14,627 pounds) or Sept. 30 • Nearshore season: Opens Mondays through Wednesdays, beginning May 6, through the earlier of the quota (500 pounds) or Sept. 30
Central Oregon Coast Subarea • Spring All-Depth Season: Fixed dates are: May 9-11; May 16-18; May 23-25; May 30-June 1; and June 6-8. Back-up dates if quota available are: June 20-22; July 4-6; and July 18-20. Quota = 171,103 pounds. • Summer All-Depth Season: Opens Aug 2-3, every other Fri and Sat until the quota is taken or October 31 whichever is earlier. Quota = 67,898 pounds. • Nearshore Season: Opens June 1, 7 days per week inside the 40-fathom regulatory line, through the earlier of the quota or Oct. 31. Quota = 32,591 pounds
Reminder: on days when the all-depth season is open, such as June 6-8, regardless of depth where fishing occurs the all-depth regulations apply, the only groundfish (bottomfish) allowed to be retained are sablefish, Pacific cod, and other species of flatfish.
Southern Oregon Subarea •Opens May 1, seven days per week, through the earlier of the quota (11,322 pounds) or October 31.
